Interior murals
Using a combination of in-depth research and imagination, I create vibrant compositions that bring stories and information to life.
I typically use liquid chalk pens so that I can work quickly, straight onto the wall surface. I conduct careful research to ensure I use appropriate period costume, objects and buildings in my artworks, at times working from reproductions of historical material, adapted to suit the client’s requirements. I can also compose explanatory text, and am experienced in typography and hand lettering.
I’ve been creating interior murals for commercial clients for the last 13 years. I have over the course of this time gained experience working as part of a shopfitting team, and also working in open venues around customers.
I am an accredited Safe Contractor certified by Alcumus and can provide risk assessment plans for clients on request.

Methods of
working
By using a combination of historical visual reference, preparatory research and imagination, the artworks are planned out in washable pencil and then painted in using liquid chalk pens, a fairly quick-drying medium which enables vibrant images to be built up in layers straight onto the wall surface.
Some artworks, such as the scene shown above depicting Daniel Defoe alighting from a coach, utilise visual research for appropriate period costumes and buildings to create a unique composition, whilst others, such as the 18th Century birds eye view of Chepstow, reproduce historical images on an expanded or simplified scale; in this case a 1705 drawing by Johannes Kip.
